What is Play Therapy?

Play therapy is a developmentally appropriate and evidence-based approach designed to help children express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in the way they communicate best—through play. For children ages 3 to 12, play becomes the language through which they process emotions, build resilience, and develop healthy coping skills.

In my work, I use a variety of play-based modalities tailored to meet your child’s unique needs, including Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy (CBPT), Art Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, and Game Play Therapy. Sessions are carefully structured to provide a safe, supportive environment where your child can feel free to explore, express, and grow at their own pace.

Play therapy can be beneficial for a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety and fears

  • Emotional regulation challenges

  • Behavioral issues

  • Social difficulties

  • Grief and loss

  • Trauma

  • Big life transitions (e.g., divorce, new siblings, moves)

  • Low self-esteem or confidence

You can expect your child to engage in creative, meaningful play while I observe, guide, and help them make sense of their internal world. I also offer regular caregiver consultations and parenting support to ensure you're part of the process and feel empowered along the way.

If you're wondering whether play therapy is right for your child, I’d love to talk more about how I can support your family.

What is clinical supervision?

Clinical supervision is a required component for professionals seeking licensure as an LCSW or LCPC in Illinois or Missouri. It involves structured, ongoing guidance from a qualified supervisor who helps you grow your clinical skills, navigate ethical challenges, and build confidence as a therapist. I offer supervision grounded in real-world experience, having worked in a variety of settings including private practice, school-based mental health, and community support services—allowing me to provide well-rounded, supportive supervision tailored to your professional goals. Supervision includes regular individual or group meetings, case consultation, skills development, and documentation support aligned with licensure requirements.

feeling lost as a parent?

Raising a child can be both incredibly rewarding and deeply challenging—especially when your child is struggling with big emotions, behavioral concerns, or difficult life transitions. Through a play therapy lens, I offer parenting support that helps you better understand your child’s behaviors and emotional needs by tuning into what they express through play. Together, we’ll work to strengthen your relationship, increase confidence in your parenting approach, and build tools that foster connection, regulation, and resilience at home. You don’t have to navigate this alone—support is here for both you and your child.
